Hyundai Hope has made a meaningful impact in Arizona by donating $25,000 to Banner Children’s at Desert in Mesa, supporting its Injury Prevention program with a focus on child passenger safety.
This marks Hyundai’s first safety partnership in the Mountain states region, building on its broader national commitment to child safety education through hospital collaborations.
The donation will help expand Banner Children’s Car Seat Safety program, funding the purchase of new safety seats and enhancing public education efforts.

Through this initiative, the hospital offers free onsite safety seat checks and installations, while also providing community outreach at schools, churches, health fairs, and local events, helping families understand how to properly select and install child safety seats.
Cole Stutz, Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor North America, emphasized that this collaboration reflects Hyundai’s wider mission of promoting safety beyond vehicles by ensuring families have the tools and knowledge to protect young passengers.
The initiative comes at a critical time, as federal agencies like the NHTSA push for improved car seat standards, with research showing that proper use can reduce fatal injuries by up to 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers.
Dr. Rahul Chawla, a pediatric intensivist and Banner Health Foundation board member, praised the partnership, saying it will have a tangible effect on community wellness. He highlighted how vital these funds are in helping families access essential safety equipment and reliable guidance.
The ceremonial check was presented on May 8, 2025, with representatives from both Hyundai and Banner Desert Medical Center in attendance. The program aligns with Hyundai Hope’s mission to foster safer, healthier communities under its larger “Progress for Humanity” initiative. For more on the program, visit HyundaiHope.com.
