Hyundai Motor has unveiled INSTEROID, a bold new concept car based on its popular INSTER EV, reimagined as a gamified “dream car” designed to challenge conventions and excite younger drivers.
Blending gaming aesthetics with sporty performance and immersive design, INSTEROID debuted at Seoul’s Peaches D8NE before its public showcase at the Seoul Mobility Show from April 3–13.

Created by Hyundai’s European design team, INSTEROID fuses INSTER’s urban EV platform with track-ready upgrades like widened bodywork, aerodynamic elements, Drift Mode, and interactive tech including a Beat House sound system and Message Grid.

The cockpit features bucket seats, a roll cage, and adjustable components—emphasizing a customizable, game-inspired driving experience. Unique design elements, such as the orange Boost icon and a reflective race suit, emphasize its playful, youthful vibe.

More than a show car, INSTEROID highlights Hyundai’s push into digital culture. A racing mini-game—where players evolve INSTER into INSTEROID—will launch online in April, alongside its appearance in Kartrider Rush+. This builds on Hyundai’s growing presence in gaming, following previous collaborations on platforms like ROBLOX and ZEPETO.

INSTEROID also integrates sustainable materials like 3D-knit recycled fabric and lightweight lattice structures, aligning performance with eco-conscious innovation.

Positioned as a halo model for the INSTER lineup, INSTEROID not only enhances the EV’s appeal but also reinforces Hyundai’s vision of emotional, creative, and sustainable mobility for future generations.
