This recognition highlights the IONIQ 9’s expected influence on the market, its design appeal, and the brand’s progressive image. Newsweek’s Auto editors selected winners based on the models’ anticipated market impact, industry relevance, and unique appeal.

Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai Motor North America’s SVP of Product Planning and Mobility Strategy, expressed gratitude for the award, viewing it as a promising endorsement of Hyundai’s vision for the IONIQ 9. She described the model as a “no-compromise EV” that delivers bold design, functionality, and the spaciousness families seek.

The IONIQ 9 is built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and showcases a unique ‘Aerosthetic’ design, focused on optimizing space and energy efficiency.

Early teaser images reveal design details like sleek profile character lines inspired by traditional Korean Hanbok, Hyundai’s distinct Parametric Pixel lighting, and multi-spoke wheels—all adding to the vehicle’s upscale aesthetic.

This is Newsweek Autos’ first year presenting the Most Anticipated New Vehicles awards, a program recognizing innovative models across powertrains, including EVs, hybrids, and gas-powered vehicles.

Hyundai’s continued teasers build excitement for the IONIQ 9’s world debut later this month, where the brand is set to further define the future of three-row electric SUVs.
