Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 N TA Spec has set a new electric vehicle lap record at Japan’s Attack Tsukuba 2025, completing the circuit in 57.446 seconds.
Renowned driver Nobuteru Taniguchi piloted the high-performance EV to victory, surpassing the previous record and reaffirming Hyundai’s presence in Japan’s growing EV market.
The IONIQ 5 N TA Spec, a motorsport variant of the award-winning IONIQ 5 N, features enhanced software tuning, boosting its output to 687 PS.

It retains key production components while integrating motorsport-grade upgrades, including high-performance brakes, aerodynamic enhancements, and slick tires.
Taniguchi praised the vehicle’s exceptional handling and control, emphasizing its stability at high speeds. The record-breaking performance builds on Hyundai N’s success, following its victory at the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Alongside the record-setting run, Hyundai Mobility Japan showcased the IONIQ 5 N DK Edition, a high-performance concept co-developed with Autobacs Seven and racing legend Keiichi Tsuchiya.
Hyundai plans to bring its DK Edition N Performance Parts package to market, offering enhanced road and track capabilities for customers.
