Hyundai has earned five TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for 2025. The IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Kona (non-EV), Tucson/Tucson Hybrid, and Santa Fe/Santa Fe Hybrid (built after November 2024) all received the highest safety rating.
These awards highlight the safest vehicles in each category based on rigorous crash tests and safety evaluations.
For 2025, IIHS has introduced stricter testing criteria, particularly for second-row occupant protection.

Vehicles must achieve an acceptable rating in the updated moderate overlap front test to qualify for TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) and a good rating for TSP+.
Hyundai has enhanced passenger safety by integrating advanced SmartSense features, rear occupant alerts, additional side airbags, and improved seat belt technology.

“We prioritize the safety of all passengers and continuously advance our technology to meet evolving safety standards,” said Cole Stutz, Chief Safety Officer of Hyundai Motor North America.
IIHS President David Harkey emphasized the increased safety standards, stating that every awarded 2025 model provides exceptional protection for both front and rear-seat passengers.

To earn TSP or TSP+, vehicles must also score good ratings in small overlap front and side crash tests, as well as acceptable or good ratings in pedestrian crash prevention during both daytime and nighttime conditions.

Hyundai’s parent company, Hyundai Motor Group, leads the industry with 12 new 2025 IIHS TSP/TSP+ awards, further reinforcing its commitment to vehicle safety and innovation.
