Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the INITIUM, a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) concept, at its ‘Clearly Committed’ event in South Korea.
The concept previews a production SUV set to launch in 2025 and introduces Hyundai’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design language, showcasing 27 years of innovation in hydrogen technology.

Key Features of INITIUM
- Range & Performance: With a targeted range exceeding 650 km and an electric motor output of 150 kW, INITIUM ensures smooth urban driving and strong highway acceleration.
- Innovative Design: A robust SUV aesthetic integrates functionality for city and outdoor lifestyles, complemented by aerodynamic wheels and a practical roof rack.
- Hydrogen Integration: The vehicle includes a FCEV-specific route planner to optimize refueling stops and a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature for powering household devices and appliances.
- Family-Focused Interior: Spacious seating with wide rear doors and reclinable second-row seats offer enhanced comfort.
- Advanced Safety: Reinforced structures and nine airbags ensure world-class collision safety.
The INITIUM concept embodies Hyundai’s dedication to a sustainable hydrogen future. At its core is Hyundai’s HTWO business brand, which spans hydrogen production, storage, and utilization.
Hyundai plans to showcase INITIUM at the Los Angeles Auto Show and Auto Guangzhou, solidifying its leadership in hydrogen mobility. The production model is expected in the first half of 2025, marking another step in Hyundai’s pioneering hydrogen journey.
