Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have unveiled the Integrated Greenhouse Gas Information System (IGIS), a pioneering platform to monitor, quantify, and manage carbon emissions across their entire operations.
Using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, IGIS tracks emissions throughout the vehicle lifecycle, from production to disposal, ensuring precise and consistent data collection. It also integrates supply chain data, enabling comprehensive carbon footprint predictions.

IGIS employs blockchain technology to enhance data security and transparency, ensuring the integrity of emissions records. This robust system is designed to meet global environmental regulations and certifications, including CDP and RE100.
Eunsook Jin, Executive Vice President of Hyundai and Kia, emphasized IGIS’s role in their mission for carbon neutrality by 2045, calling it a transformative step toward building a responsible value chain.
This innovation follows the 2023 launch of the Supplier CO2 Emission Monitoring System and reinforces Hyundai and Kia’s leadership in sustainability, driving the automotive industry toward a greener future.
