Hyundai Motor America, in collaboration with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), recently held a child passenger and pedestrian safety event at Hyundai’s national headquarters in Fountain Valley, California.
The event, which is part of Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to safety, featured two key components: a child safety seat check and a pedestrian safety training, both integral to CHLA’s Injury Prevention Program. This nationally recognized initiative aims to reduce unintentional injuries and fatalities among children by providing education and resources to families.
The event underscored Hyundai’s commitment to creating a culture of safety, both within the company and for its customers. “Our continued partnership with CHLA is an important element in creating a culture of safety at Hyundai and for our customers,” said Cole Stutz, chief safety officer at Hyundai Motor America. “We are proud to offer this program to the local community and Hyundai families, especially at our Fountain Valley headquarters. Providing education and resources to families is an important part of our commitment to ensuring the safety of children whether they are as vehicle occupants or pedestrians.”

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) were on hand to educate parents and caregivers on the correct installation and use of car seats. They also conducted inspections to check for expiration dates, manufacturer recalls, and proper fit. Families in need of new car seats received replacements to ensure the highest level of safety for their children.
In addition to car seat checks, the event offered an interactive pedestrian safety training for elementary school-aged children. Participants engaged with LA Street Smarts, a life-size replica of a small neighborhood complete with active traffic signals and interactive components. The exhibit is designed to teach children essential pedestrian safety techniques and raise awareness of the dangers associated with walking and playing near streets.
This initiative is part of Hyundai Hope, Hyundai’s corporate social responsibility program focused on improving community well-being through health and safety support. The collaboration with CHLA, a leading institution in pediatric care and research, highlights Hyundai’s dedication to fostering positive growth and ensuring safety in communities.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, a leader in pediatric medicine, provides world-class care to children from across Southern California and beyond. Consistently ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the nation, CHLA’s work extends from routine preventive care to complex medical treatments, supported by cutting-edge research and comprehensive training programs for future pediatricians.
