The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has earned the prestigious North American Car of the Year™ title, marking a record-setting fourth win for the Civic nameplate and solidifying its position as a standout in the automotive world.
This accolade highlights the Civic hybrid’s sporty design, exceptional safety performance, and engaging driving dynamics, furthering its role as a key player in Honda’s electrification strategy, with hybrid models projected to account for 40% of Civic sales this year.
Offered as both a sedan and hatchback, the Civic hybrid combines the iconic Civic driving experience with Honda’s advanced two-motor hybrid-electric system. The hybrid’s optimized suspension, noise reduction features, and custom-tuned tires ensure a smooth and comfortable ride, reinforcing its fun-to-drive spirit.
This win also marks the seventh North American Car or Truck of the Year™ award for Honda, previously earned by models like the Civic (2006, 2016, 2022), Accord (2018), and Ridgeline (2006, 2017). Recognized for innovation, design, performance, and value, the award is judged by a panel of 50 top automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada.
The Civic hybrid is powered by Honda’s fourth-generation two-motor hybrid system, manufactured in Ohio alongside its redesigned 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine. This powertrain, also used in the Accord and CR-V hybrids, has earned a “Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems” award for its combination of efficiency and performance.
As one of the top-selling passenger cars in the U.S. for over five decades, the Civic has been a favorite among Gen Z, first-time buyers, and multicultural customers. With over 15 million Civics sold in North America since 1973, its legacy continues with the 11th-generation Civic, proudly built in North America using domestic and globally sourced parts.
The Civic hybrid exemplifies Honda’s commitment to clean, efficient, and enjoyable driving experiences, further cementing its status as a leader in hybrid technology and vehicle manufacturing.
