In October 2024, General Motors celebrated a significant milestone, surpassing 300,000 electric vehicle (EV) sales in the U.S. since 2016, with over 370,000 EVs sold across North America. This achievement cements GM as the second-largest EV seller in the U.S. for the third quarter, marking its strong momentum in the EV market.
GM’s growing lineup includes options for nearly every driver: the luxurious Cadillac LYRIQ, the powerful GMC HUMMER EV, the versatile Chevy Silverado EV, and the budget-friendly Chevy Equinox EV.

With these varied offerings, GM aims to make the switch to electric an easy choice for consumers. In the third quarter of 2024 alone, GM sold more than 32,000 all-electric vehicles in the U.S., setting a new record and reflecting a 46% increase over the previous quarter and a 60% boost from last year.
In addition to vehicle production, GM is actively expanding EV infrastructure. The company is rolling out more public charging stations nationwide and advancing home charging solutions, allowing customers to conveniently charge at home and even use their EVs as backup power sources.
GM’s upcoming models, including the Cadillac OPTIQ and ESCALADE IQ, will add even more variety to its EV lineup, ensuring drivers have appealing all-electric options when they’re ready to make the switch.
With decades of innovation in EV technology, GM’s efforts in research, design, and engineering are clearly paying off. The company is thrilled to reach this milestone of 300,000 EVs sold in the U.S. and looks forward to continuing its leadership in the EV space.
