GM Unveils Bold Corvette Concept at New UK Design Studio in Royal Leamington Spa
General Motors has officially opened its new Advanced Design Studio in Royal Leamington Spa, expanding its global creative network and reaffirming its commitment to Europe.
To mark the occasion, GM revealed a striking Chevrolet Corvette concept car, developed by the UK design team as part of a larger global project. Additional Corvette design concepts from other studios will follow throughout 2025.

The new UK studio, led by veteran designer Julian Thomson, plays a key role in GM’s international design strategy. The 24,584-square-foot facility hosts over 30 creatives and supports both digital and clay model development, contributing uniquely European perspectives to GM’s global vision.
This opening also aligns with GM’s broader plans to expand Cadillac EV sales and introduce Corvette models in the UK and mainland Europe.

A Radical Reimagination of Corvette
The Corvette concept takes a futuristic, hypercar-inspired approach, while still honoring the model’s iconic DNA.
With aviation-inspired sculptural lines, a dramatic Apex Vision panoramic view, and a bold split-spine design echoing the 1963 Sting Ray, the concept reflects the balance between Corvette heritage and cutting-edge innovation.
Its design features a clear division between upper and lower halves—the upper preserving stylistic Corvette cues, and the lower focusing on functionality and integrated EV battery tech, with advanced aero features that eliminate the need for traditional wings or spoilers.

Technical Highlights
- Body & Structure: Additive manufacturing for lightweight, rigid construction with reduced part count and integrated panels.
- Aero Systems: A dual-mode aerodynamic setup balances on-road efficiency with track performance via active ducting, fan-assisted downforce, and reconfigurable aero surfaces.
- Doors & Visibility: Full wraparound side glass and powered wing doors create a seamless cabin experience, while the windshield center spar features an augmented display.
- Chassis: Inspired by racecars, with a pushrod suspension system and ultra-low 127mm seat height.
- Wheels & Size: 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels; 1033mm height, 2178mm width, and 4669mm length.

Though not intended for production, this concept exemplifies GM’s advanced design vision and demonstrates how studios across the globe are tasked with imagining what mobility could look like decades from now.
As part of the Corvette creative study, more concepts will surface in 2025, showcasing distinct interpretations from GM’s design teams in Detroit, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Seoul.
The unveiling also included a sneak peek of a new GMC concept, set to debut later this year—further proof that GM’s global studios are at the heart of shaping the future of mobility.
