Ford Pro Launches Smart Charging Bundle in California to Enhance Fleet Electrification

Ford Pro launches the Smart Charging Bundle in California, providing complimentary Level 2 chargers to businesses with EV fleets to streamline operations and reduce costs.

Ford Pro™, the commercial division of Ford Motor Company, has unveiled its Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle in California, aiming to assist businesses with electric vehicle (EV) fleets in streamlining their operations and reducing costs. As one of the largest commercial fleet markets in the US, California stands to benefit significantly from this initiative.

The Smart Charging Bundle offers a complimentary Ford Pro Level 2 48-amp or Level 2 80-amp charger for depot and workplace charging to businesses subscribed to Ford Pro Charging software. This software not only facilitates efficient charging but also allows businesses to schedule charging during off-peak hours, thereby lowering utility costs.

Electric fleets present a cost-effective solution for businesses, reducing fuel expenses and maintenance costs. The all-electric E-Transit™ is a prime example, requiring no gasoline and having 48 percent lower scheduled maintenance costs compared to a gas-powered 2024 Transit®1. Additionally, the new automated demand-to-grid response solution in Ford Pro’s Charging Software helps manage grid stability by pausing charging during high local demand, alerting customers, and resuming charging post-event. This feature reduces the risk of brownouts and blackouts, promoting a more resilient power system.

Ford Pro also handles the enrollment process for California grid demand response programs, energy programs, emergency load programs, and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) carbon credits program.

“California is an EV pioneer, and new regulations aim to accelerate businesses’ electric transition,” said Ted Cannis, Ford Pro CEO. “We’re here to do the heavy lifting and help companies navigate the complexities of electrification, helping them be more productive and efficient as they add EVs to their fleet. Our smart charging software helps businesses effectively manage their charging operations, including scheduled charging to avoid peak periods when electricity is in high demand at high rates and automated participation in grid events.”

Ford Pro offers a connected customer experience through its integrated suite of solutions, encompassing vehicles, charging, software, financing, fleet management, and service for all commercial and government customers. Ford remains the leading global commercial vehicle brand and America’s best-selling line of commercial vehicles for 39 consecutive years.
