Ford Pro Launches Smart Charging Bundle for Massachusetts Businesses

Ford Pro™ introduces the Smart Charging Bundle to help Massachusetts businesses integrate EVs into their fleets, offering free chargers and reduced charging costs through the Clean Peak Energy Standard.

Boston, Mass., June 20, 2024 – Ford Pro™, the commercial division of Ford, has introduced the Ford Pro™ Smart Charging Bundle to help businesses in Massachusetts integrate electric vehicles (EVs) into their fleets. This new program aims to reduce both upfront and ongoing EV charging costs.

The Ford Pro™ Smart Charging Bundle offers free commercial-grade Ford Pro™ chargers for home or worksite charging to software subscribers enrolled in the Massachusetts Clean Peak Energy Standard (CPS).

This program, established by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) in 2020, is designed to lower emissions and costs associated with peak electricity demand by promoting the use of clean energy technologies.

Elizabeth Mahony, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, emphasized the benefits of the CPS, stating, “Clean energy technologies like energy storage and demand response resources, when used during peak electricity demand, lower the likelihood that we need to call on expensive fossil fuels.

Through its Clean Peak Energy Standard, DOER believes these technologies can reduce costs for ratepayers, lower Massachusetts’ emissions, and create a more resilient electric grid. Ford Pro’s Smart Charging Bundle is now among the tools to help Massachusetts shift to a clean energy portfolio and achieve net zero emissions in 2050.”

Ford Pro™ Charging supports over 1,000 commercial worksite depots powering fleet EVs and is committed to easing the electric transition for businesses. The division offers EV consulting and a comprehensive suite of integrated charging hardware and software solutions for Ford and other brand vehicles.

Their charging software monitors millions of data points daily to enhance the EV charging experience, allowing businesses to manage EV and charger performance efficiently. This can potentially save businesses hundreds of dollars per vehicle annually by scheduling charging during off-peak hours.

Ted Cannis, CEO of Ford Pro, highlighted the program’s advantages: “Our team is focused on easing the transition to electric for business and government customers. Through this program, Ford Pro customers essentially get their own virtual ‘charging manager,’ as we will do the heavy lifting such as providing no-cost charging hardware, managing the charging schedule, avoiding peak rates, and ensuring business EVs are powered up appropriately to get work done.”

The Smart Charging Bundle is a strategic addition to Ford Pro’s offerings, aligning with Massachusetts’ goals for a cleaner energy future and providing significant operational cost savings for businesses transitioning to electric fleets.
