Ford has made a significant advancement in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study, jumping 14 positions from No. 23 to No. 9. The study, which evaluates feedback from drivers and vehicle repair data during the first three months of ownership, highlighted several Ford and Lincoln vehicles for their improved quality and performance.
Ford’s Strong Performance
The Ford Bronco Sport was named the best small SUV for initial quality, surpassing 18 other models. Additionally, the 2024 Ford Explorer, Maverick, and Super Duty ranked second in their respective segments, showcasing Ford’s commitment to quality across its lineup.

“We are making a lot of progress on quality and customers with our latest vehicles are benefiting from it,” said Jim Baumbick, Ford’s Vice President of Product Development and Quality. “We have more work to do, as our ambition is to have best-in-class quality and we won’t be satisfied until we achieve and sustain it.”
Frank Hanley, Senior Director of Auto Benchmarking at J.D. Power, acknowledged Ford’s dedication, stating, “Ford’s achievement of receiving the award for the Bronco Sport in the Small SUV segment shows their continued commitment to Initial Quality.”
Lincoln’s Improvement
Lincoln also showed notable progress, improving its rank from No. 28 to No. 25 in the study. This improvement underscores Lincoln’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and reliability of its luxury vehicles.
