The 2025 GMC Yukon brings a series of noteworthy updates that transform this full-size SUV into an even more advanced, luxurious, and stylish vehicle. The previous SLE and SLT trims have been replaced by the new Elevation trim, offering a more robust base model. Meanwhile, the Denali Ultimate trim has received further upgrades, enhancing its appeal as a sophisticated alternative to the Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator. Notably, this Ultimate treatment has now been extended to the off-road-oriented AT4 as well.
One of the significant updates is the availability of the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine across the lineup, with some enhancements for 2025. Additionally, the Yukon benefits from a host of interior, exterior, technology, and safety upgrades, making each trim distinct in its own right.
For adventure enthusiasts, the Yukon AT4 has been significantly revamped. The first-ever AT4 Ultimate model debuts with 20-inch wheels and a four-corner adaptive air suspension capable of raising the vehicle by two inches for improved off-road clearance.
True to its rugged nature, the AT4 Ultimate features red tow hooks, a front skid plate for added underbody protection, and a more subdued matte finish replacing the high-gloss elements on the front end. The interior of the AT4 Ultimate exudes both ruggedness and luxury, with three rows of black full-grain leather seats, red stitching, Ash Burl wood accents, and stainless-steel speaker grilles.
Despite the Denali Ultimate being the most opulent choice, the AT4 Ultimate stands out as a smart investment in the Yukon lineup. It offers premium interior materials, the Terrain drive mode with one-pedal capability for off-road control, and the option to equip the Duramax diesel engine, which now delivers 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque.
The standard engine for the AT4 Ultimate is the 6.2-liter gas V-8, with the 5.3-liter V-8 serving as the base engine for lower trims. The diesel option enhances the AT4’s appeal, particularly for those who need robust towing capabilities.
The Denali Ultimate, the pinnacle of the Yukon lineup, introduces a new level of luxury with features like 24-inch eight-spoke machined wheels and standard 16-way powered, heated, and ventilated massaging front seats.
As part of the new Executive Seating option, the second row can now also be equipped with massaging seats. Passengers can enjoy entertainment on 8.0-inch screens embedded in the front seat headrests, with access to web browsing, music, and streaming services.
A 22-speaker Bose stereo system, including speakers in the headrests of the first and second rows, ensures a premium audio experience. The Denali’s interior is available in a single colorway called Warg Savage, a classy brown that complements the luxurious ambiance.
The 2025 Yukon’s interior has been completely redesigned, offering more usable space and improved visibility. The new 11.0-inch cluster screen provides ample room for vehicle data, including cues from the Super Cruise hands-free driving assist system, now available across all Yukon trims.
The centerpiece of the dashboard is a massive 16.8-inch display, perfectly suited to the Yukon’s size. The pushbutton shifter has been replaced with a modern column-mounted shifter, creating a cleaner center stack and freeing up space for the screen. Physical controls remain for common functions, and a lined storage bin above the screen provides a safe place for small items.
Safety has also been enhanced in the 2025 Yukon, with new standard features like automatic front pedestrian and bicycle braking, rear cross-traffic braking, side bicyclist alert, and intersection automatic emergency braking. Night vision, using thermal cameras to detect pedestrians, animals, and objects in low light, is now available.
With Super Cruise available on all trims, and mapped roads expanding to over 750,000 miles, the Yukon can handle highway driving autonomously, even when towing. New trailering technologies, including blind-zone steering assist, transparent trailer view, trailer reverse trajectory, trailer tire health monitoring, and jackknife alert, further enhance the Yukon’s towing capabilities, which max out at 8,400 pounds.
Pricing details for the 2025 Yukon have not yet been released, but slight increases are expected to account for the new features and lineup changes. The updated Yukon is set to hit dealerships by the end of 2024, alongside other revised GMC models like the Acadia and Terrain. With America’s continued love for SUVs, the refreshed 2025 Yukon is well-positioned to remain a popular choice for those seeking a combination of size, style, and premium features.
