Polestar is driven by passionate individuals, and Subum Lee is one of them. Born and raised in Korea, Subum’s journey to becoming lead exterior designer of Polestar 4 is one of perseverance and creativity.
His story began with a move to India during his teenage years, where language barriers led him to express himself through art.
This passion for visual storytelling eventually guided him to the U.S., where he earned a scholarship to study design in Detroit.

A chance encounter at the airport helped kickstart his career in car design, leading to an internship and, ultimately, to Polestar.
Now, after eight years in Sweden, Subum has left his mark on the brand’s designs, contributing to the front end of Polestar 3 and leading the exterior design of Polestar 4.
His minimalist yet edgy style, deeply influenced by his experiences, embodies the essence of Polestar’s innovation and sustainability-driven vision.
For Subum, design is more than aesthetics; it’s a form of communication, both for the company and the designer. “We put a lot of effort, maybe even soul, into creating great designs,” he reflects, and his work at Polestar is a testament to that dedication.
