As the current Porsche 911 GT3 R continues its winning streak in 2025, Porsche is already shifting gears toward its next-generation model.
The updated 911 GT3 R, set to debut in the 2026 racing season, will undergo a crucial test under race conditions this weekend at the Michelin 12H Spa-Francorchamps, part of the Creventic 24H Series.
The endurance race, held April 19–20 at Belgium’s challenging Spa circuit, is split across two days—five hours on Saturday and seven on Sunday.

Porsche will partner with Herberth Motorsport for this developmental outing, with the No. 91 test car driven by Laurin Heinrich (IMSA GTD Pro Champion), Ralf Bohn, and Alfred Renauer—all experienced endurance racers.
According to Sebastian Golz, Project Manager for the GT3 R, the Creventic series offers an ideal mix of privateer competition, high track time, and real-world endurance conditions. Herberth Motorsport’s feedback will be key, covering handling, ergonomics, serviceability, and more.

Built on the already successful current model, the new GT3 R introduces upgrades to improve driveability and front-end stability through aerodynamic tweaks and reduced pitch sensitivity.
Additional updates include refined steering, software enhancements, and other yet-to-be-disclosed technical innovations. A full public reveal is expected this summer.

Since 2023, the 911 GT3 R has notched major wins globally, including class victories at Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring, sweeping the IMSA GTD Pro titles, and earning Porsche its first-ever DTM title. The evolved version aims to build on that legacy for the 2026 season and beyond.
