Eight journalists from across the world set off on a 1,500 km Arctic road trip in Porsche’s all-electric Macan and Taycan Cross Turismo models.

Their journey began in Kiruna, Sweden, already 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, and took them through Finland to Mehamn, Norway—home to the northernmost fast-charging station in the world.

Porsche has long used road trips to showcase the real-world capabilities of its electric models, previously taking the Taycan on drives across Australia, India, and Europe.

This latest adventure tested the cars against extreme winter conditions, with temperatures plunging well below freezing.

Despite the icy roads, the all-wheel-drive Macan and Taycan Cross Turismo handled the journey with ease, proving their ability to maintain performance and range even in harsh climates.

Charging stops were dictated by the vehicles’ built-in Charging Planner, with the first pause only coming 40 km into Norway, after crossing Sweden and part of Finland without needing to recharge.

In Lakselv, drivers took a break at an IONITY fast-charging station before tackling the final stretch on Norway’s breathtaking yet treacherous FV888 road. Snow and ice made for challenging driving, but the Porsches, fitted with winter tires rather than studded ones, navigated the conditions effortlessly.

Finally, the convoy reached Mehamn, where the cars charged against the dramatic backdrop of the Barents Sea. As the journey proved, Porsche’s electric vehicles performed impressively, delivering a real-world winter range of around 380 km at an efficiency of 25 kWh per 100 km.

After a well-earned rest, the group prepared for the return trip—another 750 km drive back south, further cementing the practicality of Porsche’s electric sports cars in everyday use, even in the Arctic cold.
