A Legacy of Innovation and Elegance

First unveiled in 1955, the DS was a revolution in automotive design, with hydropneumatic suspension, advanced aerodynamics, and an unmistakable silhouette.

Its legacy includes serving as a presidential car, making history in General de Gaulle’s 1962 escape, and earning a place in the MoMA collection. The DS has also been a cinematic icon, featuring in films like Fantomas Unleashed (1965) and Back to the Future Part II (1989).

The DS Balloons – A Unique Display

A standout exhibit will be the DS Balloons, a 1959 concept by Citroën’s advertising director Claude Puech, where a DS 19 appears to float on four oversized spheres, symbolizing its hydropneumatic suspension. Recreated by GARAC, this visionary display will be at the heart of the exhibition and features on the Retromobile 2025 poster.

Twelve Historic Models on Display

Among the eleven vintage DS models at the exhibition:

  • 1956 DS 19 (Spring Green)

In a symbolic face-off, the new DS N°8 and the 1969 DS 21 Pallas will stand together at the exhibition entrance. The DS N°8 features a Crystal Pearl exterior, extended bi-tone black roof and bonnet, and a luxurious Alezan Brown Nappa leather interior—a nod to DS’s enduring commitment to French craftsmanship and elegance.
