Bugatti’s latest A New Era docuseries episode, released on YouTube today, gives a behind-the-scenes look at a key moment from February 2022, when the design team presented their proposals for the Tourbillon.
This car is meant to shape the future of Bugatti, aiming to inspire the brand for the next century — Pour l’éternité.
Led by former Design Director Achim Anscheidt and his successor Frank Heyl, the team refined their ideas from sketches to full-scale painted models, drawing on Bugatti’s history while pushing into a new era.

Their designs were presented to the board, marking the start of feasibility studies to finalize the Tourbillon’s production.
This was more than just a design decision; it was about setting the future direction of Bugatti. The car’s design will influence the entire brand’s evolution, blending iconic elements with modern engineering.
Beyond aesthetics, the team had to ensure technical feasibility, aerodynamic performance, and adherence to homologation standards for a car capable of over 400 km/h.
The board and design team ultimately agreed on a final design that combined the best aspects of the proposals. Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, emphasized the importance of these decisions in shaping Bugatti’s next 100 years, much like how the Chiron has set the tone for its successors since 2016.
Following the design’s unveiling in June, all 250 production slots were quickly sold out. Watch the full episode, A New Era: Determining the Future, on Bugatti’s YouTube channel.
