Copenhagen Fashion Week: Leading the Way in Global Fashion

Scandinavia’s biggest fashion week has returned, and the excitement is palpable. As the official car partner for Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) for the third consecutive year, we’re not just along for the ride—we’re inspired by the event’s focus on meaningful change.

Last week, the world’s most forward-thinking labels and cutting-edge brands gathered in Denmark’s fashion capital for CPHFW, where the future of fashion was on full display. The Spring/Summer 2025 edition featured some of the most innovative Nordic and international designers, from student works by the Swedish School of Textile in Borås to fresh material from iconic brands like Finnish Marimekko.

CPHFW may have the glamour of any major fashion event, but it’s not your typical fashion week. It’s a platform committed to sustainability. Led by CEO Cecilie Thorsmark, CPHFW has been driving industry change with a rigorous sustainability action plan introduced in 2020.

This 19-point plan enforces sustainability requirements for all participating brands, aiming to embed long-term environmental responsibility within the fashion industry.

“Our sustainability guidelines have significantly shaped our collaboration with brands,” Cecilie explained during a panel discussion at Polestar Space in Copenhagen earlier this year. “We now engage with sustainability and buying teams, gaining deeper insights into brands’ operations and supporting them through various knowledge-sharing initiatives.

In the coming months, we will unveil our first revision of the Sustainability Requirements, raising the bar to continue pushing for meaningful change within the CPHFW brands.”

CPHFW’s influence is spreading, with other fashion events like the Norwegian Fashion Hub and the German Fashion Council adopting its framework. Starting in 2024, Oslo Runway and Berlin Fashion Week will implement CPHFW’s sustainability requirements, with hopes that more will follow.

Ahead of this year’s event, Cecilie emphasized the importance of community and cross-industry collaboration. “Our relationship with Polestar highlights the potential of cross-pollination between different industries, as there’s so much we can learn from one another,” she said.

As the official car partner, we ensured that Cecilie and other guests traveled in style, showcasing our latest models. The streets of Copenhagen saw the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 glide through the city center, while the Polestar 4 made its debut on Danish roads.

During CPHFW, Cecilie’s schedule was packed, with 10-12 shows to attend each day. The Polestar 3 provided her with a swift, stylish way to navigate between events. Joined by Fashion Forum’s Editor-in-Chief Carla Christine Bruus Aagaard-Strube en route to the OpéraSport show, the two discussed sustainable initiatives and emerging talent.

Cecilie expressed her excitement about the CPHFW NEWTALENT support scheme, now in its third season, which spotlights and nurtures emerging Nordic designers. Names to watch include Berner Kühl, Alectra Rothschild/Masculina, Stamm, and Rolf Ekroth.

Carla also caught up with multi-disciplinary designer Fatima Fransson on her way to another show. Based between Copenhagen and Stockholm, Fatima is known for her work in set design, furniture, and fashion, using vibrant colors and innovative materials. Her collaboration with Samsøe Samsøe for CPHFW resulted in a pop-up coffee shop installation featuring a large table with 30 chairs draped in upcycled denim jeans from the brand. This installation, which sits at the intersection of sustainability, fashion, and art, is open to the public during the week.

With over 40 runway shows to choose from, Fatima shared her anticipation for (di)vision’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Known for last year’s viral “Tablecloth dress,” (di)vision continues to push boundaries in fashion design.

As CPHFW continues to set the standard for sustainable fashion, we’re proud to be a part of an event that not only celebrates creativity but also drives the industry towards a more responsible future.
