A classic sports car is set to be the most expensive Fiat ever sold when it goes under the hammer.
The 1953 8V Supersonic by Ghia is set to sell for around £1.75million.
The 120mph vintage motor was one of only 14 ever made.
The car was owned as new by Henry S. Lauve, the famous General Motors designer.
It was restored in 1994 but it still boasts its 8V, two litre engine.
Currently the priciest Fiat ever bought was an 8V Cabriolet which went for £960,000 in 2015.
Fiats are usually regarded for being modest hatchback runarounds.
The 8V Supersonic is being sold by auctioneers Sotheby’s, as reported by What’s the Jam.
The sale takes place in Monterey, California, US on 17 August.
A Sotheby’s spokesperson said: “The Fiat 8V was always an exclusive automobile.
“And by design, they were typically purchased new by interesting individuals who led exciting lives.
“This is particularly true of the exclusive Ghia-bodied Supersonics.”
They added: “But there is something very special about this 8V Supersonic.
“Acquired new by a respected GM designer from the Detroit auto industry’s most dynamic era.”
