An amazing replica of an iconic racing car is for sale – but there’s a catch – it’s built for a child.
The striking homage to the late Sir Stirling Moss’ 1955 Mille Miglia-winning Mercedes-Benz was hand-made.
The motor is six-foot-long and two-and-a-half feet wide.

It has a glass-reinforced bodyshell over a steel box angle and pipe chassis with a differential axle driven by an electric motor.

Its listing states: “Most parts are hand-crafted using lathe and mill.
“The electric motor is equipped with an autobrake system meaning there is only need for one pedal.

“It has fully functioning lights, indicators and horn with lovely attention to detail on the dashboard including a rather optimistic speedometer reading up to 140kph.

“There is a switch to control the maximum speed around 8mph and the cockpit is finished off with an elegant alloy and wood steering wheel with interior carpet and seating hand crafted by the vendor’s wife who is a professional seamstress.

“The car was a guest at the Hampton Court Palace Junior Concours last year, when the vendor rigged the 300 SLR with a remote control system and their delighted 13-month-old son was driven in the cavalcade.

“Suitable for a child aged up to around seven years old.”
It being sold with an estimate of £8,000 to £10,000 by Iconic Auctions on Saturday at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, as reported by Luxury Auto News.

Stirling Moss won the 1955 Mille Miglia in a 300 SLR.
It was a 1,000 mile motor race held on a course made up entirely of public roads around Italy.
