Design company Callum, founded by renowned automotive designer Ian Callum in 2019, is set to launch its first “own brand” vehicle, the Skye, a compact and futuristic all-terrain electric vehicle (EV).
Priced between NZ$165,000 and NZ$230,000, the limited-sale Skye is a pure-electric model that combines Callum’s signature design ethos with cutting-edge technology.

The Skye, which is making its debut at the Concours on Savile Row show in London, is powered by a 42kWh battery, providing an anticipated range of 270km. An optional ultra-fast charging battery will allow for a full charge in under 10 minutes.
With a length of just over 4 meters and a weight of 1150kg, the Skye promises “sportscar performance,” capable of accelerating from 0-96km/h (60mph) in under four seconds.
Design Philosophy: Simplicity and Functionality
Ian Callum, whose illustrious career includes designing the Aston Martin DB9 and Vanquish, the Volvo C70 coupe, and the groundbreaking 2008 Jaguar XF, emphasizes simplicity in the Skye’s design. “In order to maximize the room, it’s essential to keep the interior forms simple,” Callum explains.
The interior is dominated by a central pillar console with rotary and touchscreen dials, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The cabin features sports seats in the front and a rear bench suitable for children, which can be removed to create a configurable load space.
“The interior design intention is incredibly disciplined; we’ve edited our vision to only include necessary elements, giving the driver and passengers everything they need while avoiding wasted space,” Callum adds. The design employs clean and sophisticated geometric shapes that complement the vehicle’s exterior forms.

The Skye will be available in multiple variants, including both on-road and off-road focused models. Details and specifications of these different derivatives will be confirmed throughout 2024.
