Bugatti’s connection to watchmaking began in 1925 when Swiss brand Mido designed a collection of automotive-inspired wristwatches, reflecting Ettore Bugatti’s vision of elegance and performance.
With fewer than 100 pieces crafted, these exclusive gold-cased timepieces, shaped like Bugatti’s horseshoe grille, became coveted treasures—often gifted to top drivers and mechanics.
In 1932, Bugatti’s horological journey continued with Breguet, which designed on-board chronographs for the Type 41 Royale, the most luxurious car of its time. Positioned in the center of the steering wheel, these precision timepieces featured a tachometer function and an eight-day power reserve, underscoring Bugatti’s relentless pursuit of mechanical excellence.
A New Era: Bugatti and Parmigiani Fleurier
Bugatti’s renaissance in the early 2000s reignited its watchmaking collaborations. Seeking a timepiece as revolutionary as the Veyron, Bugatti partnered with Michel Parmigiani to create the Bugatti Type 370.
This avant-garde timepiece, inspired by the Veyron’s W16 engine, featured a dial positioned on the side and a manually wound 10-day power reserve movement, arranged along a single axis like a gearbox. Initially questioned, the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Type 370 won the 2006 “Watch of the Year” award, solidifying its status as a horological masterpiece.
For over a decade, Bugatti and Parmigiani Fleurier continued to push the boundaries of innovation, crafting timepieces that celebrated the engineering genius of the Veyron 16.4 and Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse.

In 2019, Bugatti partnered with Jacob & Co., ushering in a new era of watchmaking excellence. Known for pioneering extreme complications, Jacob & Co. sought to create timepieces that embody Bugatti’s fusion of power, artistry, and precision.

Further elevating the partnership, the Jean Bugatti timepiece captured the spirit of Ettore Bugatti’s son, pushing Jacob & Co.’s innovation into uncharted territory with one of the most sophisticated chronographs ever created.
The Next Chapter: The Bugatti Tourbillon
Bugatti’s 2024 unveiling of the Tourbillon hyper sports car at its Molsheim Atelier introduced a new symbol of mechanical artistry—a car designed to transcend time, much like an heirloom watch.
The Tourbillon’s analogue instrument cluster, developed in collaboration with Swiss watchmakers, mirrors the precision of haute horology. Crafted from titanium, sapphire, and ruby, its 600 meticulously engineered components showcase Bugatti’s signature obsession with perfection.
To honor this engineering marvel, Jacob & Co. created the Bugatti Tourbillon timepiece—a 250-piece limited edition inspired by the 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon hyper sports car. Featuring:
- A V16 engine block automaton, carved from a single sapphire piece.
- A 30-second flying tourbillon with a double power reserve indicator, designed in the style of Bugatti’s dashboard and RPM counter.
- A winding crown inspired by the car’s cockpit controls.
