BMW Group’s new plant in Debrecen, Hungary, has reached a key milestone as assembly operations begin for the all-electric BMW iX3.
Marking the ramp-up to series production, the plant is now producing test vehicles for the first model in the Neue Klasse lineup, ahead of full production launch in late 2025.
The assembly line, developed through virtual planning, started seamlessly thanks to collaboration between local teams and BMW’s global production network.

The plant integrates advanced technologies including modular components, reduced wiring, and a simplified cockpit assembly, enhancing efficiency and ergonomics.

Its innovative design allows up to 80% of parts to be delivered directly to the line, a record within the BMW Group.

Built entirely for electric vehicle production, Debrecen will be the BMW Group’s first plant to operate without fossil fuels.

Drawing on best practices from sites like Plant Lydia in China and Plant Leipzig in Germany, it represents the future of sustainable, flexible automotive manufacturing.
