BMW has introduced the Vision Driving Experience, a high-performance test vehicle designed to push driving dynamics to the limit.
While not intended for production, this prototype serves as a rolling testbed for the Heart of Joy, an advanced drivetrain and dynamics management system developed for BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse electric vehicles.
Tested at the BMW Performance Driving Center in Spartanburg, USA, the system significantly enhances precision, efficiency, and handling.

By integrating drivetrain, braking, steering, and energy recuperation into a single high-performance control unit, BMW achieves ten times faster processing speeds, boosting efficiency by up to 25%.
With 18,000 Newton metres of torque, the system ensures seamless acceleration, precise cornering, and the smoothest stopping process in BMW history.
The Heart of Joy is one of four key control units in the Neue Klasse, working alongside BMW’s in-house Dynamic Performance Control software. By optimizing energy recovery, 98% of daily braking needs are covered by regenerative braking, reducing reliance on conventional friction brakes.
Set for its world premiere at Auto Shanghai 2025, the Vision Driving Experience showcases BMW’s latest innovations in electrification, digitalization, and sustainability, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to Sheer Driving Pleasure.
