The BMW brand delivered 179,557 fully electric vehicles, marking a 34.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Overall, BMW’s sales grew by 2.3% with 1,096,486 units sold, outperforming traditional competitors and significantly gaining market share in Europe.

Sales Performance Highlights

  • The BMW Group delivered a total of 1,213,359 vehicles, including BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands, in the first half of the year.
  • BMW’s upper premium segment models, such as the BMW 7 Series, achieved a 22% increase in sales.
  • The BMW M GmbH recorded a 5.1% growth with 99,517 vehicles sold, driven by the introduction of the electrified M5 high-performance sedan.
  • MINI brand delivered 114,054 vehicles, despite undergoing a complete product portfolio changeover.

Jochen Goller, a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales, commented on the performance: “In the first six months of the year, we saw double-digit growth of our fully-electric vehicles and models from the upper premium segment. Despite a challenging market environment, we increased sales for the BMW brand in the first half of the year, thanks to our attractive product portfolio.”

Regional Sales Insights

  • Europe: Sales increased by 2.6% with 460,144 units sold.
  • Americas: Achieved a 2.1% increase with 229,302 units sold, including 187,979 in the USA.
  • Asia: Experienced a slight decline of 3.6% with 493,364 units sold, including a 4.2% drop in China.

The BMW Group remains optimistic for the second half of 2024, bolstered by the full availability of the BMW 5 Series models, including the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the first BMW i5 Touring.
