BMW Group Plant Regensburg has reached a significant milestone, producing its 100,000th fully-electric vehicle this year, a BMW iX1 in Blue Bay Lagoon metallic, destined for La Réunion.
This achievement underlines the plant’s role in driving the company’s e-mobility growth, with over a third of its production now electrified.

Regensburg Plant Director Armin Ebner praised the team’s flexibility and commitment amidst market challenges, noting that the plant surpassed its 2023 production figures, with over 330,000 units expected in 2024.
The facility produces the BMW X1 and X2, accommodating all drive types—combustion, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric—on a single line.
Advancing its transformation toward a digital, sustainable “BMW iFactory,” the plant was named “FACTORY OF THE YEAR” in 2024 for large-series assembly. It will also play a role in the next-gen NEUE KLASSE vehicles by mid-decade. With 9,250 employees across Regensburg and nearby Wackersdorf, the sites remain pivotal to BMW’s global operations.
