Munich. From September 15 to 20, 2024, 22 national teams, including six women’s and 16 men’s teams, totaling 60 riders, will compete for the prestigious trophy at the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 in Namibia. They will traverse the rugged Namibian terrain on the specially designed BMW R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike.
This bike, tailored exclusively for this competition, has been developed from the R 1300 GS model since 2008 and is equipped with an array of special accessories to handle all kinds of challenges.
The robust GS, powered by a formidable boxer engine, features a handlebar riser, engine protection bar, underride and frame guard, adjustable gear and brake levers, GS Vario rider footrests, enduro hand levers, a headlight protection guard, and white handguard extensions. The off-road capability is enhanced by coarse-tread tyres on black cross-spoke wheels and a single-seat bench, making it perfect for the tough conditions of the GS Trophy in East Africa.

While the R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike isn’t available for direct sale, it closely mirrors the R 1300 GS Trophy model with a few exceptions, such as unique stickers, a larger underride guard, and a specialized gearshift lever. Its vibrant Racing Blue metallic color, accented with red and white stripes and lettering, along with a matte white metallic painted rear frame, embodies the spirit of sporty off-road adventure that participants will experience.
For added durability, the bike comes equipped with radiator guards to prevent damage from debris like stone chips. The sturdy cross-spoke wheels are standard in black but are also available in gold as an option from the factory.
The event will also feature the BMW F 900 GS Trophy Marshal Bike, designed for the GS Trophy Marshal Team. These marshals, responsible for guiding participants through Namibia’s challenging landscapes, will rely on the F 900 GS Trophy Marshal Bike, a premium mid-range touring enduro from BMW Motorrad.
This bike, based on the F 900 GS, boasts 77 kW (105 hp) of power and has been significantly enhanced for off-road use, with a weight reduction of 14 kg compared to its predecessor. Just like the R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike, the F 900 GS Trophy Marshal Bike is well-suited for the Namibian terrain.
