BMW M Motorsport’s latest entry-level race car, the BMW M2 Racing, made a strong debut at the Nürburgring NLS and Hockenheim’s DTM paddock, showcasing its potential ahead of its official launch in 2026.
Based on the BMW M2 production model, the BMW M2 Racing is being developed to meet the financial and technical needs of an affordable, entry-level racing car.

The car’s first major test took place this past Saturday at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where BMW M works drivers Max Hesse and Jens Klingmann put the vehicle through its paces in challenging conditions.
The car, entered by FK Performance Motorsport, completed 27 laps without technical issues during the four-hour race. Klingmann praised the car’s handling, noting its performance in both wet and dry conditions.
BMW M Motorsport has emphasized affordability, reliability, and technological excellence in the development of the BMW M2 Racing, with more tests planned throughout 2025.
The car’s new livery, revealed in Hockenheim, features hidden “Easter Eggs” for fans, including the outlines of famous racetracks from around the world. Full technical specifications are expected to be unveiled next year.
Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport, expressed optimism following the successful test, stating, “The start was positive, and the 2025 season will bring further testing to ensure the BMW M2 Racing is ready for its debut in 2026.”
