Oschersleben – BMW M Motorsport has unveiled the BMW M2 Racing, a new entry-level race car set to debut in the 2026 season. Designed for private customer teams worldwide, the M2 Racing offers high performance, affordability, and intuitive handling.
Presented during the DTM season opener at Oschersleben, the BMW M2 Racing builds on the legacy of models like the BMW M235i Racing and BMW M2 CS Racing.
“We are continuing a proud tradition,” said Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “The BMW M2 Racing redefines the entry-level segment with uncompromising performance, durability, and pure driving pleasure.”

Delivering 230 kW (313 hp) and a top speed of over 270 km/h, the M2 Racing is based on the current M2 chassis and enhanced with racing components. It will be available through selected BMW M Motorsport dealers at €98,000 (net) in the EU.

Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing, highlighted the car’s intuitive handling and cost-efficiency: “The BMW M2 Racing makes grassroots motorsport more accessible without sacrificing performance.”

Development included collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and series production experts, with intensive test sessions by BMW M works drivers, including Jens Klingmann. Klingmann praised its low running costs, easy operation, and thrilling driving dynamics.

From 2026, private teams will compete globally with the BMW M2 Racing in national and international sprint and endurance series, including the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. As with all customer racing models, BMW M Motorsport will provide professional support to teams.
