BMW, distributed by Borusan Otomotiv in Türkiye, is set to showcase the innovative BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA at the 19th edition of Contemporary Istanbul. Running from October 24-27, 2024, with a Preview Day on October 23, the event will be held at Tersane Istanbul.

The BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA, which had its world premiere at the Frieze Los Angeles art fair, merges cutting-edge technology with the traditional artistry of renowned South African artist Esther Mahlangu.

Mahlangu, the first African artist and woman to participate in the prestigious BMW Art Car project, lends her vibrant Ndebele-inspired designs to the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA.

Her signature geometric patterns are animated on the vehicle’s surface using BMW’s innovative E Ink film technology. This electrically sensitive film allows the car to shift colors dynamically, creating an evolving artwork that transforms the vehicle into a living canvas.

The experience is further enhanced by a sound installation from BMW Group’s Creative Director for Sound, Renzo Vitale. His composition incorporates sounds from Mahlangu’s South African homeland, blending them with the noise of feather brushes she uses in her painting, offering a multisensory artistic experience.
