BMW has launched its Art Car World Tour in Vienna to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic collection, showcasing five legendary models at the Museum of Applied Arts and the SPARK Art Fair from March 20-23.
The cars by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney and Jeff Koons will headline the European leg, while the newest addition — Julie Mehretu’s BMW M Hybrid V8 — begins its journey in Asia with a stop at Art Basel Hong Kong on March 28-30.

The tour kicked off at the “(R)EVOLUTION OF ART” event at BMW Group Niederlassung Wien. “We are honored to host the start of this world tour in Vienna,” said Dr. Josef Reiter, Managing Director of BMW Group Austria, emphasizing BMW’s dedication to promoting art and culture.

Alongside the Art Cars, BMW unveiled its future-facing concept vehicles — the Vision Neue Klasse and Vision Neue Klasse X — marking a leap in design, electric mobility and digital innovation.
These vehicles preview what’s to come, including the upcoming BMW iX3, set for production in Hungary in 2025.

The BMW Art Car Collection began in 1975 when Alexander Calder’s painted BMW 3.0 CSL debuted at Le Mans, sparking a tradition that merges motorsport with contemporary art. Today, BMW supports over 100 global cultural initiatives, continuing its legacy of artistic and technological collaboration.
