BMW Group and Pirelli have teamed up to launch new 20-inch P Zero Winter 2 tires for the BMW 7 Series, emphasizing enhanced range capabilities.
These tires, with “A class” European labeling for rolling resistance, set a new standard for all-electric vehicle tires, delivering extended range, comfort, and exceptional winter performance on various surfaces.
BMW-specific tires meet the highest quality and technology standards, receiving the BMW Star-Mark as a seal of approval. This aligns with Pirelli’s Perfect Fit strategy, focusing on creating tires specifically for the vehicles they equip, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Winter tires generally increase a vehicle’s rolling resistance compared to summer tires due to their compounds and tread patterns designed for better grip on snowy and wet roads. Rolling resistance affects a vehicle’s range, requiring more force for rolling motion.
The new 20-inch P Zero Winter 2 tires, developed with Pirelli, mitigate these disadvantages, extending the all-electric BMW i7’s range by up to 50 km compared to standard winter tires. This improvement is attributed to advancements in tread pattern and compound technology.
Dr. Mihiar Ayoubi, Senior Vice President of Development Driving Pleasure at BMW Group, highlighted the collaboration as a significant milestone in tire technology for winter tires, enhancing the range capabilities of electric vehicles. He emphasized the commitment to combining high performance in snow and wet conditions with significant range improvements for electric vehicles in winter.
The new tires also reflect BMW and Pirelli’s sustainability goals, utilizing renewable materials and reducing the CO2 footprint of their manufacturing processes. This partnership underscores their shared vision for environmentally conscious mobility and their dedication to advancing tire technology.
The 20-inch P Zero Winter 2 tires will be available for the BMW 7 Series starting in August 2024, with plans to extend this technology to other models, beginning with the new BMW X3 in the second half of 2024.
