BMW unveiled its new 2 Series Gran Coupé at ApeFest 2024 in Lisbon, a premier event for the Web3-focused Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) community. The sleek, four-door model made a striking appearance, highlighting BMW’s alignment with tech-savvy audiences through interactive digital features and innovative design.
ApeFest attendees, primarily BAYC NFT holders, explored two models of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, each equipped with an in-car gaming experience. A one-off concept car, designed by Dubai-based artist Rida via a BAYC community art contest, was also revealed.

This custom version of the car showcased golden accents and a unique “ApeCar” design with BMW M Performance parts, integrating the community’s cartoon ape aesthetic into its look. BAYC members were given the exclusive chance to register their interest in purchasing the vehicle.
BMW also debuted in-car access to the popular Web3 game Dookey Dash: Unclogged, allowing players to experience the new 2 Series Gran Coupé in-game. This gaming feature is part of the BMW Digital Premium package and accessible via BMW Operating System 9, which brings third-party apps, streaming, and over-the-air ConnectedDrive updates to current models.
The BMW M Driving Experience added excitement to the event with an augmented reality tour of Lisbon in specially modified BMW M models, merging real-world driving with BAYC-themed virtual environments.
Exclusive lifestyle items, including a limited-edition mechanics jacket embedded with interactive NFC tech, were available for purchase, embodying BMW’s fusion of fashion and technology.
This ApeFest showcase underscores BMW’s commitment to connecting with digital-first communities through immersive experiences and innovative vehicle design.
