“Sustainability is at the core of who we are,” said Alexia Bednarz, Head of Sustainability at Nikola. “Hundreds of Nikola zero-emissions trucks are already on the road, delivering goods and driving change in the industry.”

Key data from Nikola’s report includes the sale of 114 vehicles in 2023, recycling or reusing 192 metric tons of lithium-ion batteries, and a 45% diversion rate for manufacturing waste. The report also reveals that Nikola’s Coolidge, Arizona, manufacturing facility covered over 10% of its energy needs through solar power.

Bednarz emphasized Nikola’s responsibility in addressing climate change, noting that progress will continue throughout 2024 with more truck sales and the expansion of HYLA-authorized hydrogen fueling stations. From late 2023 to September 2024, 5,091 hydrogen fueling events were recorded, with 182 metric tons of hydrogen dispensed.

Nikola’s mission to pioneer zero-emissions solutions is driving a transformation in commercial transportation, with battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles leading the way. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Nikola is working to advance the hydrogen refueling ecosystem across North America, promoting sustainable transport.
