Porsche, in collaboration with Michelin, has developed a new ultra-high-performance tyre for the Carrera GT, almost 20 years after the production of the legendary super sports car ended.
This latest tyre, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, enhances both wet and dry performance, making the Carrera GT more predictable and safer at high speeds. The tyre uses advanced bi-compound technology, combining a wet-grip material on the inner shoulder with dry-grip carbon black on the outer, optimizing performance across various conditions.

Development driver and Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who helped test the tyres, praised the significant improvement in feedback and driving dynamics.
He noted that the updated tyres allow the car to achieve faster lap times while being easier to handle at high speeds, providing better control at the limit. Emergency braking has also been improved, with the Carrera GT now stopping 2.5 meters shorter from 100 km/h and 12 meters shorter from 200 km/h.
The new tyres, which bear Porsche’s exclusive N0 marking, represent the second major tyre update for the Carrera GT, replacing the previous Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres introduced in 2013.
These improvements underscore Porsche’s ongoing commitment to the Carrera GT, ensuring that even after two decades, the car remains a high-performance, safer, and more responsive supercar. The tyres can be ordered from Porsche Classic Partners or Porsche Centres.
