Mercedes-Benz and the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) have partnered to establish incubators aimed at fostering automotive innovation and startup growth in Ontario, Canada.

This initiative, part of the global Mercedes-Benz STARTUP AUTOBAHN network, focuses on future technologies such as AI, software, vehicle components, and electric drives.

The collaboration will help startups progress from research to industrialization, with Mercedes-Benz providing expertise and use cases to guide promising projects.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is partnering with the University of Waterloo to advance neuromorphic computing research, which could significantly enhance the energy efficiency and speed of AI systems for autonomous driving.

This partnership complements ongoing global research by Mercedes-Benz into advanced computing for automated vehicles.

These initiatives build on Mercedes-Benz’s 2022 Memorandum of Understanding with the Canadian government, strengthening cooperation in the electric vehicle value chain and expanding the company’s presence in North American tech innovation.

OVIN and Mercedes-Benz plan to expand their incubator program by adding more academic and industry partners in future phases, furthering Ontario’s role as a leader in automotive and mobility technology.
