American Honda Achieves Strong Sales Growth Despite Supply Challenges, Weather Impacts, and Fewer Selling Days

American Honda surpasses 1 million sales in 2024, with an 8.8% YTD increase, driven by strong SUV and electrified vehicle demand despite supply and weather challenges.

American Honda surpassed 1 million vehicle sales for 2024 by the end of September, a month earlier than in 2023, with year-to-date (YTD) sales up 8.8%.

The Honda brand reported 95,601 units sold in September, marking a 10.2% increase for Q3 and an 11.5% rise for the year, while Acura posted 9,926 units for the month, with Q3 SUV sales up 5.7%.

Electrified vehicles saw record demand, with over 90,000 units sold in Q3, marking the best-ever quarter for hybrid-electric and electric vehicles for the company.

Despite challenges from EV production preparation and supply chain disruptions due to Hurricane Helene, Honda continues to perform strongly across its range, especially with SUVs and electrified models. Key highlights include:

Honda Pilot sales surged by 62% in September, with the TrailSport model accounting for over 16% of the 2024 mix.
HR-V hit record sales in Q3, up 16%, and a 31.9% increase YTD.
The CR-V remained Honda’s top seller with 29,217 units, a 13.7% increase YTD, with over half being hybrid-electric models.
Civic sales rose 28% YTD, with the new hybrid accounting for 17.7% of the mix.
Accord maintained strong demand, with over 50% hybrid sales despite production shifts for upcoming EVs.
The Odyssey led minivan retail sales, with an 18% rise in Q3, and the Ridgeline saw its best-ever Q3 sales.
The Prologue had a solid September, with 3,785 units sold.
