Hyundai Motor America reported September sales of 62,491 units, a 9% decrease year-over-year, with strong hybrid model demand and record-setting Q3 retail sales driven by the IONIQ 5.

Hyundai Motor America reported total September sales of 62,491 units, marking a 9% decrease compared to September 2023. Despite the dip, the company set sales records for Santa Fe HEV (+87%), Tucson HEV (+52%), and Palisade (+9%). Hybrid vehicle sales saw a notable 36% jump.

Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, attributed the year-over-year decline to fewer selling days in September but emphasized the strong demand for hybrid and electric models.

He highlighted the brand’s record-setting Q3 retail sales, driven by the popularity of the IONIQ 5 and hybrid models, which led to a total of 210,971 units sold, a 5% increase over Q3 2023.

Hyundai also celebrated major milestones, including producing its 100 millionth vehicle globally and expanding partnerships, like a new collaboration with General Motors to explore supply chain and clean energy technologies.

Additionally, Hyundai’s philanthropic arm, Hyundai Hope On Wheels, marked its 26th anniversary by pledging $26 million toward pediatric cancer research.

Key model performance in September saw gains for the Sonata (+64%) and Elantra (+19%), while the IONIQ 5 and Palisade continued to perform strongly. However, other models like the IONIQ 6 and Santa Fe saw declines.

Hyundai remains focused on maintaining its momentum and aims to finish the year with another all-time annual sales record.

Hyundai Motor America continues to grow its U.S. presence with significant investments in manufacturing and R&D, contributing substantially to the U.S. economy through jobs and innovation.
