Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. released its production, sales, and export figures for August 2024, showing notable declines across several areas.

Production
Global production dropped 15.5% year-on-year, with 236,016 units manufactured. Production in Japan decreased 13.4%, while production outside Japan fell 15.9%, driven by declines in the U.S. (-32.5%), the UK (-22.9%), and China (-20.3%). However, Mexico saw a 7.6% increase in production.

Sales
Global sales in August 2024 were down 5.5% compared to the previous year, totaling 244,279 units. In Japan, sales (including minivehicles) slipped 1.1%, with a 5.4% decline in minivehicle sales offsetting a 2.0% increase in registered passenger vehicles. Sales outside Japan dropped 6.1%, with China seeing a sharp 24.2% decrease. North America saw modest growth, with Canada (+29.3%) and Mexico (+1.7%) posting positive results.

Exports
Exports from Japan plunged 34.1% year-on-year, with North American exports down 53.2%. Despite this, exports to “Other” regions, including Mexico, rose 2.9%.

In summary, Nissan faced declines in global production and sales, particularly in major markets like the U.S. and China, though it saw positive trends in Mexico and Canada.
