Ford is launching BlueCruise 1.4, the latest version of its hands-free highway driving software, designed to enhance the driving experience with smoother, more natural handling.

Key improvements include automatic speed adjustments on curves, better in-lane stability to minimize side-to-side movement, and extended hands-free engagement in various driving conditions like rain and direct sunlight.

In testing, BlueCruise 1.4 allowed for eight times more hands-free driving compared to earlier versions. It also retains features like Lane Change Assist, which lets drivers switch lanes hands-free with a tap of the turn signal, and In-Lane Repositioning, which adjusts the vehicle’s position to create more space between lanes.

The software will be available in select 2025 Ford and Lincoln models, including the F-150 and Lincoln Navigator, and will roll out as an update to some existing vehicles. Currently, over 492,000 BlueCruise-equipped vehicles have covered 244 million miles hands-free in North America, helping Ford continuously improve the system through customer feedback and data collection.

BlueCruise supports vehicles across Ford’s range, from gas-powered to electric models, with each vehicle line receiving tailored software updates. Ford remains committed to evolving hands-free driving technology to enhance safety and convenience for its customers.

Subscription and modem activation required for BlueCruise. It assists drivers but does not replace attentive driving.
