Porsche is marking the 50th anniversary of its Track Experience, a program that has been honing drivers’ skills and pushing the limits of its high-performance sports cars since the founding of the “Porsche Sportfahrschule” in 1974.
This initiative, rooted in Porsche’s commitment to driver development and technical excellence, offers participants the opportunity to explore the full potential of Porsche vehicles under expert instruction on racetracks worldwide.

The origins of Porsche’s driving courses date back even earlier, to 1954, with an informal training session in Switzerland.
Recognizing that the dynamic capabilities of Porsche cars were often left untapped, race director Huschke von Hanstein and works driver Herbert Linge organized the first official training, laying the groundwork for what would become a global phenomenon.
Early courses included a track inspection, professional driving guidance, practice sessions, and in-depth analysis—an approach that remains largely unchanged.
In 1974, coinciding with the launch of the first 911 Turbo, Porsche institutionalized these driving sessions by creating the “Porsche Sportfahrschule.”
The turbocharged 911’s powerful yet challenging performance highlighted the need for structured driver training, and Porsche responded by organizing its first sessions at racetracks in Germany, Belgium, and France.
Today, this foundation has evolved into the Porsche Track Experience, where world champions and engineers guide participants in mastering Porsche’s vehicles.
Over the years, the program has expanded its offerings, from winter driving courses in Finland to specialized training for women. It also includes experiences with Porsche’s newest innovations, including all-electric models, ensuring that drivers of every generation can enjoy the thrill of a Porsche.
As Porsche celebrates 50 years of this unique program, the Track Experience continues to offer unparalleled access to the brand’s heritage, expertise, and driving exhilaration.
