Volkswagen partners with Revoltech GmbH to develop LOVR™, a sustainable, hemp-based leather alternative for car interiors, set to revolutionize eco-friendly vehicle materials by 2028.

Volkswagen has partnered with the German start-up Revoltech GmbH to develop sustainable materials using industrial hemp. This collaboration aims to create an eco-friendly surface material for Volkswagen vehicles by 2028.

The material, known as LOVR™, is made entirely from bio-based hemp, using by-products from the regional hemp industry.

It can be produced on existing industrial equipment and is fully recyclable or compostable, making it a promising alternative to synthetic leather.

Volkswagen’s Technical Development team, along with Revoltech, is focused on innovative and resource-efficient solutions for vehicle production.
