Audi is marking 75 years of car manufacturing at its Ingolstadt site with a series of special events. The celebration kicks off with a lecture at the Audi museum mobile on September 3, followed by the Night of the Museums event on September 7, and a major anniversary celebration on September 8 at Josef-Strobl-Platz in downtown Ingolstadt, the historic site of Audi’s former headquarters.
The lecture, delivered by Audi historian Ralf Friese, will explore the challenging early days of Auto Union GmbH after World War II, focusing on its establishment in Ingolstadt on September 3, 1949. This lecture is free to attend, but registration is required.

On September 7, the Night of the Museums at the Audi museum mobile will feature performances by the Audi Big Band, special tours of the museum’s exhibits, including the “Form vollendet” exhibition on automotive aerodynamics, and various activities for all ages.
The evening promises a blend of music, acrobatics, and history, with a special go-kart course for children if the weather permits.
The main anniversary event on September 8 will feature a showcase of the first vehicle models produced in Ingolstadt, including rides in the historic Schnelllaster van. Visitors can also enjoy city tours highlighting Auto Union’s legacy in Ingolstadt, along with a performance by the Bavarian Ensemble of the Audi Philharmonic Wind Orchestra.
The event, running from 10 AM to 5 PM, will include food, drinks, and various entertainment options for the whole family.
These events celebrate Audi’s rich history in Ingolstadt, from its post-war rebirth to its status as a leader in the automotive industry today.
