NIO reveals major plans to expand its charging and battery swapping networks across China by 2025, introduces new partnerships, and announces a new factory at Power UP 2024 in Wuhan.

NIO has announced significant expansion plans for its charging and battery swapping networks at the Power UP 2024 event in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

The electric vehicle manufacturer is set to accelerate its infrastructure development across China, with initiatives such as the “Power Up Counties” plan, which aims to install chargers in every county by mid-2025 and expand battery swapping networks in phases to cover over 2,300 counties by the end of 2025.

In addition, NIO launched the “Power Up Partner” plan, inviting companies to collaborate on building and sharing profits from charging and swapping stations.

This initiative underscores NIO’s commitment to openness and cooperation, as it continues to extend its network to serve non-NIO vehicles, with over 600,000 registered users from more than 200 other car brands already benefiting from its charging services.

At the event, NIO also announced the construction of a new factory in Wuhan, dedicated to the production of over 1,000 Power Swap Stations. This facility, coupled with the establishment of NIO Power’s new headquarters in Optics Valley, Wuhan, will bolster the company’s R&D, manufacturing, and operations in energy management and infrastructure. The introduction of advanced technologies like the 640kW liquid-cooled Power Charger and 40kW portable V2V charger further highlights NIO’s focus on innovation.
