Mattel, BMW Group, and AirConsole have teamed up to bring the iconic card game UNO® to in-car gaming, unveiling the new experience at Gamescom 2024 in Cologne, Germany. Titled “UNO Car Party!”, the game will be showcased in the BMW X3 at the AirConsole booth, offering visitors a first look at how the world’s most popular card game has been adapted for play inside vehicles.
This innovative version of UNO, designed specifically for the BMW X3’s infotainment system, allows up to four players to engage in the game using their personal devices as controllers, with the vehicle’s infotainment screen displaying the gameplay. The game will be available in over 500,000 BMW and MINI vehicles starting August 21, 2024, via an over-the-air update through the AirConsole platform.

Stephan Durach, Senior Vice President of BMW Group Development Connected Company and Technical Operations, expressed his enthusiasm for the new feature: “Our partners AirConsole and Mattel are helping make in-car gaming into a new social experience, and I am thrilled to offer a family-favorite game like UNO for this exciting innovation.”
The partnership between BMW Group and AirConsole, which began in 2022, continues to expand the possibilities of in-car entertainment, with UNO Car Party! being the latest addition to a growing selection of games available through the AirConsole platform. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to enhance the digital experience for BMW and MINI customers, turning stationary moments into enjoyable and interactive opportunities.
Anthony Cliquot, CEO of AirConsole, highlighted the unique integration: “Each player can secretly see their own cards on their phone while playing on the infotainment system of the car. This is an experience that would be impossible to achieve using only touchscreen or Bluetooth controls on the infotainment system.”
