Nikola Opens New HYLA Hydrogen Refueling Station in Southern California

Nikola Corporation has launched a new HYLA hydrogen refueling station in Santa Fe Springs, California, bolstering its support for hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks. Located at Tom’s Truck Center, just off the 5 Freeway, this station begins operations today and is a key part of Nikola’s plan to establish 14 refueling solutions by the end of the year.

This station is designed to meet the growing demand for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, complementing Nikola’s existing infrastructure in Southern California, which includes stations in Ontario and Long Beach. Together, these stations form a strategic network aimed at supporting the transition to zero-emission transportation across the region.

Nikola’s President of Energy, Ole Hoefelmann, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding the hydrogen supply chain and ensuring that refueling solutions are available ahead of truck deployments. KC Heidler, President and CEO of Tom’s Truck Center, expressed pride in being the first U.S. dealership to host an onsite hydrogen refueling station, aligning with the company’s long-term zero-emission goals.

Nikola’s HYLA network offers a variety of refueling options, including modular and permanent stations, “behind-the-fence” setups, and partnerships like the one with FirstElement Fuel in Oakland. This infrastructure expansion reflects Nikola’s broader mission to lead the transition to sustainable transportation.

Nikola Corporation, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, continues to push forward in the zero-emissions transportation sector, with its Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric trucks at the forefront of this transformation.
