Bentley Motors Celebrates Completion of New State-of-the-Art Design Centre

Bentley Motors celebrates a major milestone with the topping out of its new Design Centre, marking the completion of the building’s structural phase, enhancing their innovative capabilities.

Bentley Motors reached a pivotal milestone in the construction of its new Design Centre with a topping out ceremony, signifying the completion of the building’s structural phase. The event was led by Bentley’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, alongside Andreas Lehe and Dr. Matthias Rabe, Board Members for Manufacturing and R&D.

Set to be completed next year, the new Design Centre will repurpose one of Bentley’s most historic buildings, the renowned ‘Front of House.’ Originally constructed in 1939, this iconic structure has been a key part of Bentley’s heritage, even hosting Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The revamped design and architecture, conceptualized by Bentley’s own Design team, will double the size of the previous Design Centre and house around 50 designers specializing in exterior, interior, and color and trim.

Dr. Matthias Rabe emphasized the significance of the new Design Centre, stating, “We are in the midst of a design revolution that will define a new chapter for Bentley design as part of our Beyond100 transformational journey. Creating an innovative, creative environment for our designers is essential for developing future BEV models and other extraordinary products, aligning with our goal of becoming the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility company.”

Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy aims to revolutionize the company’s entire product line, transitioning to a fully electrified future. This new Design Centre is a crucial element of Bentley’s £2.5 billion investment in future products and the transformation of the Pyms Lane factory in Crewe into a ‘Dream Factory.’

Andreas Lehe further highlighted the importance of modernizing the Crewe site, stating, “Modernizing our site not only demonstrates our commitment to a long-term future in Crewe but also reflects our ambition to invest in state-of-the-art buildings. This will help establish a benchmark in truly digital, innovative, and highly-flexible luxury car development and manufacture.”

This substantial investment underscores Bentley’s dedication to leading the luxury automotive industry into a sustainable future, ensuring the brand remains at the forefront of innovation and design.
